Hi,I'm starting a site today for a company that sell kitchen and bathroom accesories, ceramics, tiles etc. They've given me some beautiful photos to scan - large and very colourful. To be able to do them justice, presentation is going to be very important. Obviously, I'm going to have a smaller photo linked to a larger one with up to 5 small ones on a page. Problem is can't decide whether to have the pictures appear in a new window or as a pop-up. As users rather than graphic pros, which option do you prefer on a site? Thanks for your time. I think this is one of the few times I would use a pop up as it shouldn't annoy in this circumstance. It is just as easy to turn of the pop-up as it is to be sent to a new page and then have to hit the back button to get back to the selection. I would think it would it could make comparison shopping a bit easier too.JMHO I'm in the home improvement mode right now moving to a new house - and that's how I would prefer it. Fast and easy to compare. Marr

Hi,Thanks Sandy and Marr. Glad you thought the pop-up was ok as that's what I thought as well. A further question - what do you think is the maximum width for the window and file size for the photo? Cheers Andy ------------------ Internet Business Solutions S.L. (Spain) Dreamweaver Users Forum

The ideal situation would be to have it large enough to view the details of the tile - yet small enough so that it doesn't cover the other selections or pop-up links. That may be asking for too much - but that's what I would shoot for. Hi Andy,As an avid internet shopper, I would also suggest pop up pictures. One of my favorite sites that you may want to look at, the design is terrific, I think, and it's easy to navigate is http://www.homedecorators.com Marr, you may be interested in them too with your new home. They have a great rug selection.

Great site Bonnie. I wish I would have found it sooner. I wish I would have seen it sooner. I bought four rugs last week and found a few on the site I would rather have instead. Isn't that the way it always is? Marr

Hi Andy, as a dedicated shopper, I prefer to see small images to get an idea of the style rather then wait fo a pop up to see if it's what I'm looking for.How about a pop-up for the larger pic? ------------------ If you can't laugh at yourself you might be missing the joke of a lifetime.

Hi, Shan -I think that's just what Andy has in mind. I agree with all of you. The popups that are annoying are those that automatically come up when entering a site ...especially those that keep appearing each time you return to the home page. Popups to show larger images in detail upon clicking on the smaller "preview" image are great.
