Peppergal -> Windows Explorer acting as a Server? (10/9/2004 10:52:25)

Every time I boot up my machine, Zone Alarm alerts me that Windows Explorer is trying to act as a server. What is this all about?

The validation is "Not available in Zone Alarm" and the Application is Explorer.EXE. The Source IP is a port on my machine.

Should I deny this permanently, or allow it?

You only need to allow Generic Host 32 Porcess through as a server program for net acces....otherwise..deny..

Thanks.

Is it some kind of spyware - bundled with some program I installed, maybe? If it is spyware, Ad-aware, Spybot, and Spyware Blaster have missed it. :/

If you run ZA or other program-based firewall software, you'll probably notice a lot of MS applications wanting to run as servers...

Everything from explorer to Office. Even Front Page has asked to run as a server on my machine.
