White backgrounds - 2/17/2001 23:28:00
Have heard, probably somewhere in this forum, about using a white background for your web that is not so glaring as the standard pure white background. My question is what color of white do I use so it looks white but has less glare?

I think what you may have seen is a rcommendation dfor using a colour other than white for text (silver, yellow or very pale green for example)on a black bg to make it less glaring. The nearest web safe colour to white is probably something like the grey on this page. Any shade of off white is going to be non web safe, any web safe colour other than white is not going to look even remotely like white. Having said that the colour that this message is on is #f7f7f7, not web safe but easy on the eye alright. ------------------ Katherine www.inkkdesign.com www.linkks.com -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* "Dogs have owners, cats have staff!" abbeyvet,Thanks for the reply. Do seem to remember now that it was the font not the background that was the topic that I saw.
