I am completely new to the world of FP databasing and have hit a problem early on !!! I have created a simple database and imported into FP, completed the DRW and the table containing yellow sections has appeared in FP, so far so good I thought. I have now tried to view this in the browser but no records are displayed, only the field names. I think it may be the url which is the problem, but am not sure what to replace it with Currently it is D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\index.asp Hopefully someone can tell me where I am going wrong. Thanks in advance

Did you supply default values in the DRW steps? Sometimes if no defaults are supplied, no data displays. Are you sure you have data in your database? (I made that mistake once, it was pretty embarassing!)

Currently it is D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\index.asp Are you using your local computer as the host? Do you have IIS or some other web server installed with FP extensions? What happens when you go to: http://localhost/index.asp instead of the D drive?

I'm having exactly the same problem and have been wrestling with it all day. In my case, I published the FP website to our hosted server (which supports FP extensions). No matter what I try, I can only view the field "header", but no records. The database verifies (under Tools-Wesettings). It is in Excel and the database name is properly recognized. And ... I had the same problem attempting to display the Northwinds sample data in Access format. Any help would be most appreciated! Aloha, Mark

Perceptive question. I guess that's why you are "Master of All". In fact it isn't. It is hosted by 1and1 (who I understand is one of the largest hosting groups around) and I believe the version we are running is on Linux. However, it claims to have Frontpage Extensions loaded. I presumed that this meant it would work, since I never had any problems in my prior experience with an Apache server. Of course, in that case, I wasn't attempting a database read. By the way, what I'm trying to do is to create a text box in a format that will enable our staff to post a series of periodic service announcements for our clients. I figured a simple database (like an Excel file) would be easiest and we would just automatically FTP the updated file each time it was modified. Would you recommend a different approach? Thanks so much for providing information. Although I have worked with FP and web-design very little, I've found this forum extremely helpful.
