3 QUESTIONS - 10/11/2004 13:50:29
How do I......?

1. create a fourm page like this one where people can type and submit post on my site

2. create a "members only" area...where you have to create a user name/password to access certian pages with in my site?

3. create or use clips of custom buttons like bulls eyes or decorative tabs which lead to a link.

Thanks,
webmaster@2-eleven.com

Welcome, SAMSTUDENT...

1) Forums are typically written in server side script (ASP, php, for example) This site uses a commercial ASP script. You can get other, similar ones from www.hotscripts.com

If you're able to run php on your server, I highly recommend www.phpbb.com

2) Password protection is again done via server executed scripts. There are several pre-written scripts at the hotscripts link above... best bang for the buck is Spooky Login (ASP, Windows only)... you can find it here:
http://www.outfront.net/spooky/login.htm

3) Create the image you want to use in your favorite graphics editor (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Image Composer, the GIMP) then save as a GIF image, place it in your page, and then link it to its target just like you would a text link...

Hope that helps!

And if you are on a server that can support ASP and access, then i would recommend Web Wiz Forums It is pretty easy to understand and skinning is probably the easiest to do.

I use the Snitz forum on my site. It works great, easy to install and easy to use for the visitor. It's also FREE!
