.Net and Frontpage dropdowns - 10/11/2004 14:08:56
I'm being actively, oh, shall we say, encourage, to move away from classic .asp and toward .Net.

Well, I'm trying to keep an open mind. Frontpage seems like a great tool in that it has many .Net features built in and they seem to work fine. However, here's one I'm having trouble with.

I want to build a drop down for a form that populated by a database. When you use Frontpages' DRW to generate a drop down, you have to use classic .asp.

In a point-and-click (read, no coding please) manner, can you specify a .net dropdown component populated by a database table within Frontpage?

Have you tried the Web Matrix from MS?

Tried this a while ago and wasn't too in to it. Just downloaded it again and it seems quite nice....one major issue however, is I can't get data access working. I was taking the walkthrough tour offered by the Web Matrix site and was doing fine until it got to the data connection part. If your interested to hear what happened...keep reading.

Long story short, I can see the tables of the Access Database, but I can't drag them into the workspace and use them.

Anyway, I decided to start over, and used Web Matrix to build a database. This worked and all is well.

Kind of a pain to have to rebuid the database and import tables. Wonder whether there is something to the structure of my existing database that Web Matrix doesn't like?:)
