Blurry pictures with Internet Explorer. - 3/3/2001 15:06:00
I've posted about this problem before and some say the picture looks fine. I have viewed my page from many different computers and when using IE some pictures(jpg and gif) look burry and when I try to download the blurry pics with IE they are thought to be .art files when they are not .art files on my server. Everything looks fine in Netscape. Anyone have any suggestions? The only thing all of the computers I viewed the page with have in common is that they are all on Compuserve or AOL although I did not use their browsers. Thanks. JWeems

Even though you said you didn't use Compuserve or AOL browsers, the only thing I'd know that would cause this is viewing with AOL's browser ...AFAIK, AOL normally overrides the settings of a previously installed IE browser. Somewhere in the AOL settings you can turn off the image compression. This is what would cause your images to appear blurry. You may want to over compensate for AOL and not compress your images as much to begin with. It's a toss up. Slower loading time, or over compressed for AOL users that don't turn the image compression off. Linda ------------------ Ruby Marketing

Since you are getting .art images, sounds like AOL is compressing images in IE.To shut off compression, in the AOL program, go to Settings --> Preferences --> Internet Properties (WWW) --> Web Graphics, choose Never compress graphics. Click OK.
