FP2000 Absmiddle weido - 10/14/2004 19:45:28
I have 2 machines at 2 different locations with FP2000 on them. Have been doing my site for years on both. Yesterday, 1 machine started to change all my "middle" code to "absmiddle on all pages.
Since I am in the processes of validating all my pages I have been able to narrow it down.

I tried rebooting but that didn't fix anything. Then I reloaded FP in the repair mode. That didn't fix it. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled FP. No luck.

I can take all my pages into NoteTab and change "absmiddle" to "middle" and save all. I can then validate the pages. I can validate them with FP open but the minute I open a directory all pages change to "absmiddle" again and won't validate.

Is there some setting in FP on this machine that got inadvertently changed? Like something in tools? Any ideas what would cause this. It is the only change that happens. Everything else stays the same. All other changes made to the code are saved.

Thanks for any help you can give.
Jacie

Strange indeed...

Under Options > Page Options there should be a tab (I forget which one, or what it's called) where there is a checkbox for "Preserve existing html"

Make sure thats checked and see if it helps..?

Thanks Bobby. I just checked it and Preserve existing HTML is checked in HTML Source Tab. hmmmmm. I would buy FP2003 but I won't part with my Win98 and can't use it unless I change to WinXP

unless you're using a transitional doctype then middle/absmiddle are deprecated
quote:

13.7.4 Alignment
Attribute definitions
align = bottom|middle|top|left|right
Deprecated. This attribute specifies the position of an IMG, OBJECT, or APPLET with respect to its context.

win 98 is naff compared to winxp i've never looked back. performance wise it is soooo much better.

Yes, I am using transitional. I am totally remaking my site while taking Crickets SEO and Design coarse. I didn't know HTML at all until a few weeks ago. I am going to have approx 100 pages of which I have 48 done and validated now. I am also learning CSS (some) and when I am done I will redo the pages using CSS and that should eliminate the absmiddle problem. I know they have been deprecated but have to work with what I've got for right now.
The learning curve of the SEO, design, html, css has been HUGE. It is enough to make this 66 year old business woman RETIRE.
