Reciprocal links for a weird niche - 10/15/2004 9:58:35
I'm open to all suggestions on this one! I have a client who has nobody linking to her, and she wants to change this. Fair enough. However, I think the reason nobody links to her is that there are no natural partners for her. She runs a large dating agency for an area outside London. She offers no Internet services, so it's not really of interest to people who don't live in the area. I *really* need to get this woman some reciprocal links. I hadn't really thought this out when I promised to deliver these to her, and now I'm a bit stuck. All suggestions welcome! Thanks :)

I have a client with a dating service as well. most of these are local and therefore are not competitors and could exchange links with 2 positive results: 1. not hurting each other..2. the links are relavant and thus not spam do some seraching and email similar sites with a proposed link email..word it carefully to be non threatening and entice them. good luck

Good idea. I was a bit iffy on other dating agencies, but maybe that's one way to go. Umm, want to exchange links? :) (Also anyone else interested, of course...)

(Also anyone else interested, of course...) I'm in the middle of creating a Dating Agency site...and will be selling the program created aswell.... You'll have to consult Erin on the links on client site, as I'm wokring for her, but when done, and I have the program complete and up for sale, I would be more than happy to link to your client (even though it's not using my handy work) :)

Why not just buy links? You can get a bunch of PR4 and PR5 links for $10 or so per month each. Get a couple of PR6 at $20 to $30 per link and maybe a PR7 for $50 to $80 (if you budget allows). For less than $250 per month you will have a site that if optimized correctly, will be able to rank well for most terms in a medium competitive area. If the client can only afford free links... Sign up for less than a dozen, but more than 4 guestbooks (guestbook links *still* work if done right). Find a few forums that allow links in sigs (or just links period) and start posting. Add the site to some of the lesser known directories (like joeant). Ask people to trade. Backlinks do NOT have to be in the same category as the receiving site to pass PR. It helps, but is not necessary unless your in a competitive area (think big money). OF is a great place to send people a PM to see if they are interested in trading links... as are most web related forums.

Hi Bri, Not sure if my suggestions will be helpful at all, but it seems to me as if she needs links to sites located in her area more. Sure other dating agencies outside her area could link also, but i'm wondering if Dating Agencies are regulated at all, is there a Peak Body she could reciprocate links with? With the same train of thought, are there any groups in the UK like here in Australia, some here are called Batchelors & Spinsters, they gave huge parties all over the country at regular intervals. "Parents without Partners" groups maybe also? Do they exist in the UK, do they have websites? I'm also wondering if she could have people advertise on her site. local businesses etc, with a reciprocal link on her page? Anyway, just some thoughts. Nicole

Some more thoughts just sprang to mind: - Colleges / College Social Clubs
- Local Area Guides
- Reunion Sites, like schoolfriends.com

I hesitate to post this 'cause it seems sooooo obvious, but... limos flowers orchids chocolates gifts babysitting shoes clothing tuxedos restaurants theaters, or for those of you down under, theatres taxis car rentals resorts hotels motels notels casinos the list goes on and on of related non-competing businesses that might be hot to trot to link with a large online dating agency.
