Some very good points raised in that.

End of the day, having a unique site with a unique domain name is gonna do you more good than most other tricks that can always be hit & miss with SEO tactics that change like the wind. :)

My sites are in Google, that is all that matters to me. :)

What if they gor dropped tomorrow? What would you do?

I think this is the point the article is trying to make.

Take care,

Brian

Brian has a point Taz. Google may not keep you on their index forever...

I know I'm on a fair few SE's...Google, Teoma, Yahoo, Excite etc, and I only get high in the SERPs by searching for "Giomanach" (Outfront also pops up alot in the SERPs), but that's by the by...I have a lot of work to do to rank highly by searching for "Web Design"...and I know there is the fact that Google may not keep me on the index forever...neither will Yahoo, neither will Teoma and so on and so forth...

Just 'cos you're on there....doesn't mean you're gonna hang around forever..

IF they do they do, I ain't gonna lose sleep over it, as I don't & never would rely on someone else to advertise myself.

Very little of my traffic comes from Google or the other search engines anyhoo, but that is beside the by.
I generate most of my own traffic & that is how I prefer it. :)

As I said, some good points raised in the article, basically don't rely on anyone or anything to do something you should be top notch at yourself.

Gotta definitely agree with that one. There are a zillion "web developers" out there in the search engines. I've found that most of my business comes from word of mouth, referrals (word of mouth), printed advertising, or having my link at the bottom of a site design. Also, responding to topics on message boards such as this one and an array of others has prompted business. I'm not ever going to even worry about my site ranking high in google for "web design" or any of those key terms.
