stroke function? - 10/19/2004 16:55:43
I have never heard of this, but it's been happening to me in gmail and now a friend has it happening in AOL mail...

When you open a new message, all or part of the message content is "selected"

This started on my machine after I downloaded my last run of updates... I had accepted it as a Win update bug that would fix eventually.

Joe told me that he inadvertantly held down his shift key while doing something else and a window popped up telling him that he had enabled a "_____ stroke function"

Anybody heard of this or know what it is? how to fix?

:)

Key Stroke Function

Accessibilty feature of Windoze

In Control Panel, open Accessibility Controls...and then disable the lot...well..that should be it anyway

Dan -

thanks, that was the "warning box" that he got... we tried disabling all, checking some but not others, messing with settings... things we tried only made it worse (I lost the ability to click between tabs in Mozilla for instance)

But nothing helped this funky "select all" in emails thing...

It seems to be worsening... this from his last email:

quote:

've got big problems email wise still. Please help if you can. For some reason obviously, I can type emails out. I can even place the cursor in this email. However, when I open any other emails I receive, or old emails, putting the cursor in there highlights the entire word and as you click more and more, (has to me a double click by the way to be acknowledged at all), more and more of the line gets highlighted. Weird??!!

This phenomenon is not evident in Word documents or in excel. Only in emails. However, emails for everyone at Wasser are a way of life.

Ive done a live update for viruses and a full scan. I've also run the AOL "computer check-up" function.

I'm working on getting him a list of my current filter settings, so he can compare his to it...

Dodgy mouse is outta the picture there...

Has he tried re-installing AOL, and by reinstall I mean, un-install and install. I know you can never fully remove AOHELL without reformatting the PC, but it's worth a try.

Also, get him to run HiJack This on his PC and send me the log file
