Local website view has disappeared! - 10/20/2004 8:37:18
I have been using FP2002 for some time to build and maintain a website that's hosted on a remote ISP. I've recently hit a problem that has totally perplexed me. When I open my local site in folder view, FrontPage tells me that there are "no files in this folder"; the entire folder structure seems to have disappeared. However, when I view the site in "Navigation View" I can access the individual htm pages. Using another FTP client I can see the full list of files and folders for both the local and remote sites. I've upgraded to FP2003 in the hope it might help resolve the problem but I've got the same thing. Anybody have any ideas?

frankv,

I can't really identify the cause of the problem but the solution, assuming you have good server files, is to publish down to your local drive then use those files for subsequent design changes, publishing up, etc.

If you need any help with this let me know.

Thanks Larry; appreciate the suggestion. I had tried this a number of times but without success. It's a large site and takes some time to upload. I can see from the publish log that all the folders are created, and that a huge amount of data (htm and pdf files etc) are then copied. The process then breaks down every time with a message that there is not a server at the remote site. Clearly there is, but it stops functioning propoerly or being recognized. I've tried also synchronizing with WS-FTP Pro; however that doesn't seem to pick up any difference between the remote and local sites and suggests there is nothing to synchronize. This suggests some unique FP problem to me, although I've no idea what it might be.
