Fireworks Pop-out Menu - 3/29/2001 20:37:00
Hello everyone,I used Fireworks 4 to creat a page banner which includes several drop-down/pop-out navigation buttons. I have then exported the fireworks file, including slices images and html. The resulting html page is great! I open it in FP2000 and it's spectacular! Here's the catch.... I would like to insert the resulting html page as an 'Include Page' in other FrontPage documents. When I do this the javascript falls to pieces. Infact, the page no longer works if it (and all associated files) are moved to any other directory from where it was originally exported. The error is an Internet Explorer Script Error - "Menu is undefined", and "Object doesn't support this property or method". Can anyone help???? Eternal thanks. Debborah.

Seems like you need to copy the JavaScript that Fireworks creates in the <head> section to each page you want the include to be on in order for it to work properly.

Thanks Kevin! When I inserted the 'include page' I assumed it would include all the code from the page being include, but it didn't include any head information - and that's all it needed. Thanks for pointing this out. You've made my week! Debborah.

Kevin -- the Fireworks pop-up menus actually create script in the head of the document as well as an external js file. I'd like to strip out the script from the head and place it into separate js file and link to both. This way, when you make changes to the pop-up menu structure, you can make changes in one js file and not in the heads of the hundreds of pages that use the pop-up menus. The problem is, how do you take script out the head and put it in a separate file point to it. I tried to follow the same convention used to call up the original external js file, but I don't think I'm doing it right. Any suggestions? ------------------ Jim Sims jsims@policycom.com
