IP Adress ? - 11/4/2004 21:16:25
Wow ok lets see....I am running a web of my server dont laugh i am just playin around with the design part:) . My problem is i have my domain name www.ragames.net forwarded to my server and when you reach the site located on the server, my IP Adress shows up as the URL...

Is there a way to mask that? Or change it to something besides my IP?

Running OS: Server 2003
Web design done with FP2K3

Thanks
Giomanach

You could try one of many things, but here's the two that I would try first:

Option 1:

On the server, run a search (Start>>Search>>Files And Folders) for a file called HOSTS. If it has a .SAM extension, remove it. Now, open the file in Notepad, and skip all the M$ stuff...

Enter following information, but change to suit the server details:

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.53 www.ragames.net

Obviously, it's the 192.1768.0.53 address you want to change, and I have used a dynamic address there, and not a static one:)

Save the file and close it. Now browse to www.ragames.net and see if that has changed anything

Option 2:

Get a free adless host, set-up an account, upload a page using frames (<framest cols="0,8" border="0"> and then use it to mask the IP address of the server, and set the domain to point towards the free hosting account

HTH
