hi! im wondering if anyone could help me find out how to create a scroll bar on geocities. i don't know very much html code. I think thats how i do it. i need to add links to one side of the site and the main page on the other.

You are using the free hosting service from Geocities which places a scroll bar on the right side of my browser already for their advertizing which is new by the way. They used to cover up portions of your page with advertizing and you had to code around that.

I think you can use frames to get another scroll bar on the left. There should be gobs of info on the web on how to make a frame. Do a google on 'frames how to'.

In Frontpage, shared borders will also do what you want.

Frontpage 2003 also has a 'Insert' 'Inline Frame' option.

However I am not a fan of using frames.

Geocities is being mean >.<
Why didn't they stick with the old one where we can close it completely
When they did this, they are just the same as other free hosting..

Try and use freewebs.com. They don't have any ads

Noticed this statement in their (freewebs.com) Terms of Service...

"In addition, sites older than 45 days that have not signed up for any premium services or registered a domain name will automatically have banner advertisements inserted at the top of the site."

Thought there had to be a gotcha somewhere on that site and that statement seems to be it.

ah.. i didn't read that.. but my dad been using freewebs more than 45 days but no banner on his page.. maybe it will appear later ^^

http://hosting.mixcat.com - Small ad at the bottom of every page, just text and a baclklink to them...free accounts, PHP enabled...lvely...ads not too intrusive either
