please critique a newbes site - 11/12/2004 15:45:40
I have been playing with web design for a bit this is my 3rd web site first two were eCommerce sites that were long ago and far away. Now I find myself unemployed with a family to support and picking up my FrontPage and hitting the books hard. This site is for a book author I know and he and his wife like the look of the site and have made only a few requests for changes. I know it is using frames but right now I am not sure how to use includes (any one got a good tutorial). I am willing to have some one tell me how to do it but would much rather learn it I find I pick things up better that way. After cruising this thread for a day or two looking at the sites people have entered and reading the critiques and responses this group has got to be some of the most open an honest people I’ve seen in a long time. The other thing that is nice is after reading the responses I have found other pieces of design that I had not even thought of trying. Talk about an old dog learning new tricks. Enough rambling. Thank you for the links to the information you mentioned "It's not at all bad but the instant it opened up I recognized a FrontPage standard theme" yes it is using the standard theme (artist) that is what they asked for when we talked about the page Where is a good source for templates or a good tutorial on making them? "The sample chapter page made me jump out of my skin as it's brilliant white after all that blue. It needs to have the same feel as the rest so I'd put it within a border." I originally had the sample chapter with the same theme as all the other pages but they believed it was to dark with the background color. Thus the white with the black text what do you mean put it in a boarder? "I checked out your code and it's not using frames. It's using MSFP shared borders" yes I was wrong it wasn’t frames my goof wrong term. Thanks again for the links I will be looking at them tonight
