Anybody seen this? This service, for $9.95/month will search your entire site and report back on bloated images, broken links, page load times, etc.

The cool feature is the bloated image service. Not only does it find them for you, it actually compresses them, gif or jpg and seals them all up in a zip file and sends it you! The compressed images are named exactly the same as your originals, end are even packaged in the same directory structure. What this means is, you can unzip the files into your Web site directory and viola! Your old bloated images are automatically replaced with the new compressed ones.

As amazing as this sounds, it gets better. The differences between the original and compressed images are imperceptable. I could not tell the difference!

I used this service on a client's site that is very jpg intensive. To give you an example, pages that were loading in 40 seconds now load in 17 (at 56k).

Anyway, maybe I'm naive, but it's the most amazing thing I've seen. Well worth the $9.95.

The only problem is that there doesn't appear to be a one-time fee option where you can go in, optimize a site, and not be locked into a monthly arrangement. However, you can easily cancel the account for a particular URL so maybe that's the way to go. I have sent off a request to their customer support folks asking them if there is a cleaner way to do this but I think it's wortht he hassle regardless.

OK. I'm done raving now.

And, no. I'm not getting any royalties!
