PaintShop Bug - 8/5/2001 15:42:00
Hello everyone,Im hoping someone can help. It seems a few of my members using PSP cannot open a psd file that has ImageReady3 slices on it. Has anyone ever ran into this problem or have a fix. Its only the psd files that have the Image Ready slices. All others are fine. The error is " an undefines error has occured-565" Troy | www.aplustemplates.com

Hi Gene, That actually emailed me today. Heres what they said.Hello Troy, Paint Shop Pro 7 can't open psd version 6 files, but when saving a psd from PhotoShop you can choose to save it as a file, which Paint Shop Pro 7 can open. Although it is possible that some of these PhotoShop 6 compliant files may have only a background layer or some kind of compression that allows Paint Shop Pro 7 to open them. I'll send a suggestion back to product development for you, asking that more support for the Photoshop 6 format be added to the next patch update for Paint Shop Pro 7. Please keep an eye out for updates on our website http://www.jasc.com/patches.asp Im using the beta version of Photoshop6 which doesnt have a Save As PhotoShop 5 compliant option. Oh Well, might be some good info for anyone thinking about purchasing PSP. As the saying goes; "You get whatcha pay for" Troy

Well, I love it. I have Photoshop and use it about 1% of the time. I use PSP7 99% of the time. I open psd files all the time from 5.5 down. Maybe give them a chance to get the patch out for 6.0 files. ------------------ Gene White WebTeky Full Service Web Development http://www.webteky.com/ http://www.webteky.net http://www.gwhitedesign.com

I cant give an honest opinion because I've never used it. However I've always felt it was the cheap alternative to Photoshop.Having that in mind you'd think the latest version of PSP would a least be able to open the files of the software its trying to emulate. I didnt mean to offend any PSP users, just my opinion. Troy

No offense and taken in good humor, but I don't look at Paint Shop Pro as trying to "emulate" Photoshop. As for "you get what you pay for" ...sure, but there's a lot of great bargains around for those who need to make smaller budgets stretch. Paint Shop Pro happens to be one of them, and they've always given a lot of product and support for a great price. Hopefully they'll be able to work a solution to this into the next patch, and/or the future full version of Photoshop 6 will save in a compliant way.
