Header fades over time - 8/9/2001 23:57:00
Hi experts,

My header graphic at www.isitebuild.com, is very clear on my FP2000 editor, however when uploading it appears blurry.

One exception - I uploaded yesterday, image was clear again online, but today it appears blurry again.

Any ideas why this may be so?

Is it just my computer or does it appear blurry on yours also?

Your ideas would be very much appreciated

Herman

You're not on AOL are you? If you are, you're probably seeing aol's re-compression.

If not, I can't imagine what it could be. Graphics can't fade on the Internet.

Yes I am! Is that the problem?
If so how do I get rid of that?

Is my graphic looking good on your side?

Thank you

Herman

I just tried to check it out and got the ol' "page cannot be displayed" message...

Yes, you are right!
I unchecked the "compress graphics" button (finally found it) and it now looks fine.

Thanks again

For the record, having looked at this site now, while I'm sure it's cleaner than it would be via AOL compression, the graphic is still lossy.

There's no reason why that needs to be a jpg. It will be sharper as a .gif file.

Again, for those who don't know this, in genreal you use .jpg for photos and .gif for everything else.

Advantages to .gif files include the ability to make them transparent easily in Frontpage.

Advantages to .jpg include more compression options, although I usually hate the results, personally.
