making images tranparent.. - 8/13/2001 18:41:00
Ok here we go.. I am setting up a site and I have the whole layout done all i need now is to scan pictures from my dealer catalog and get the pictures to look right. I have been talking pictures of products i have at home on a black background and I have been loading them in PSP using the color dropper to select the back blackground color and then when I save I do the image optimizer and remove the black color to make the image tranparent. Now that problem that I have now is I am scanning all the other products to jpg but there are other things in the way of my graphic ie: type, other items, so i need to remove all of it and make them transparent. only thing is when I do it the way I have been doing it, it only allows you to choose one color to remove.. thus leaving me with multiple other colors in the file. I am really new to graphics stuff I have only been using PSP for a week or so now and I am overwhelmed by all the features it has.. So if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.. thanks.. if you want and example pic I can throw one online for you to look at but I think you know what I am talking about. thanks again

Work with the image in PSP to change all the unwanted parts to the same colors. I would use the Magic Wand tool, select a color, and flood fill it with the color you are going to make transparent. Do this with all the unwanted parts. Then when you are done, use the export>gif optimizer and make it transparent. Each picture will be a little more work but this should accomplish what you want.Hope this helps. Nancy ------------------ Wrinkled is NOT one of the things I wanted to be when I grew up!
