Combining hotspots, a Gif and a JPEG - 8/13/2001 19:14:00
Hi - I hope someone can help me with this question. I have a JPEG with several hotspots - and I would like to add a GIF to it. http://www.beautykwest.com (I placed an example of the animation just below the header so that you can see what I'm trying to place above). When I use the JPEG as the background in a table I don't get hotspots, but I do get to place the GIF where I want it. I'm not sure how I can add the GIF to the JPEG - preserve the animation - and add hotspots in FP2002. Thanks for any help you can give!

What you need to do here is break up the jpeg into a number of smaller images which you place in table cells. One of the cells can then contain the gif.

I would suggest the following.

Make a table with 3 columns, the right and left with one row, the middle with 3 rows.

Set table border =0, cell padding and cell spacing =0. Set the table width to the width of your jpg and highlight the whole table, click cell properties and untick the width settings altogether.

Now take your jpeg and split it in 3 - the left bit as far as the gif begins - ie just right of the word beautykwest, the right but with evertything right of where you want the gif.

This leave the middle bit. Split it in three - the top bit and the bottom bit will be the yellow edges of your jpeg. The middle bit - which will be just white space really - you can discard.

Now you can position all of these in your table and you will have an empty center cell - put the gif in here.

I hope that is clear - it is difficult to explain but relatively easy to do.

You may need to fiddle a bit with cell alignments to get it sitting correctly.

Thank you Katherine - it sounds very simple with your explanation. I guess I was trying to make it harder that it really was! I really appreciate your help - enjoy your evening!
