Converting CMYK format to GIF - 8/16/2001 17:31:00
Does anyone know how to convert an image in CMYK format to a GIF or a JPG? I have Paint Shop Pro 5, Adobe Illistrator 7.0, and Adobe PhotoShop 5. All these programs will split an image into CMYK but they will not (as far as I know) combine the different channels into GIF or JPG.

Thanks!

Gene

Can you not change the file to RBG and then output as a gif or jpg?

In Photoshop you can convert it to an RGB by going to image, mode and choose rgb. Then you can convert it to jpg or gif using either the save as or export.

I was able to find a work-around. The image was also available in EPS format and so I opened that with PhotoShop and saved to JPG format.

Just FYI, the CMYK image comes in four different files, each with a different extension of .C , .M , .Y , and .K . I was not able to open any of these four files using PhotoShop. I may have an old version of PhotoShop.

Thanks for your help, this is a great bb!

Weird. I believe what you have is that someone did a color seperation. What was the file extension of the files. Either way, each of the files represents one of the seperations, ie. "c", "M", "Y", K". They then also saved the entire image as an eps. Do let me know what the extensions are since I'd love to understand what they did.

The extensions were .c .y .m and .k

I'm guessing that the EPS file was ment for use on the computer and that the four files in CYMK format were to be used only for printing purposes.

I guess once you do a color separation, it must be difficult to bring it back into one.
