Help Help Help! - 11/29/2004 6:51:14
OK, clients reporting they can't access my site, their sites etc. All problem ones are on the same host.

I get the sites up fine and yes, I have cleared my cache.

The error coming back seems to be 502 Bad Gateway.

I've run tracerts and there's a timeout at gateway28

the sites concerned are

www.jbvisions.co.uk
www.sprayforce.info
www.sprayforce.net
www.normanking.co.uk

can you take a look and see if you can get to them? If so, a tracert listing would be dead useful so I know where the problem is.

What the *&%! does one do about it?

Norman King is the only one that shows up oK.

The rest come up blank, but if you view source the code is there for the frame you are using (presumably to "cloak" the hosting).

Gill

Step 1 - Calm Down:)

This is a problem at your hosts end, not the user. Somewhere along the lines, the DNS records may have been changed with the host, hence the bad gateway.

I do believe the IP address, or nameservers have been changed for the sites, and the DNS records haven't been updated.

Step 2 - Get intouch with Bladehost, using your usual charm, wit and cunningly good chatter, and get them to sort this out.

My tracert gets no further than works proxy, but that's due to the set-up of the network, I'll re-run it when I get home

Step 3 - Put the kettle on:)

Thanks guys. I don't think it's the host though.

All the domains are parked with Freeparking.co.uk and then forwarded to differing hosts, hence the frames on them.

I've run tracerts for all of them and they all get stuck in the same place. I have other domains with Freeparking as well but on different hosts. Tracerts for those also get stuck.

Just to add insult to injury, if I try to trace Freeparking.co.uk, that gets stuck as well and a domain parked with them which should bring up a holding page as it's not forwarded anywhere yet, also gets stuck.

www.carledwardes.com or www.carledwardes.co.uk

It also seems to make sense that it's them if you're getting the frame info but no content.

Peter

can you check these as well please

www.california-ballroom.info
www.californiaballroom.info
www.california-ballroom.co.uk
www.californiaballroom.co.uk
www.heli-wise.co.uk
www.heliwise.co.uk

and the two above as well. That might give me a better idea of where it's stuck.

SPOOKY... No I'm not just trying to get links for the sites. :)

All work OK.
www.carledwardes.com and www.carledwardes.co.uk lead to an "under construction" page.

Great, thanks, so it must be the host.

Of course I'm now in the middle of a battle where the host is pointing at the park and the park is pointing at the host.

Host now thinks that maybe the DNS A records are up the shoot.

I've changed the forwarding to use the IP rather than the host name and hopefully it should work.

Peter, could you check again pls

www.jbvisions.co.uk
www.sprayforce.info
www.sprayforce.net

client says they can see the site fine.

Mental note for future reference......

when forwarding a domain always use the IP address and not the host name.

Now off to lie down. :)

Thankyou dearest. When you're up this neck of the woods give me a shout and I'll buy you a tester's pint. :)

So the old Tester's Brewery is still going strong up there in deepest Berkshire. Good to hear.
