Estimating size of SQL database - 11/29/2004 14:24:19
Does anyone know a "back of a fag packet" way of calculating the size of a msSQL2000 database? The database hasn't been built yet in any form, and I haven't had a good look at the dataset - but - I do know that the info to be stored is not large (several short strings, all taken from preset choices, no free text) and the total number of records at max is estimated to be 500,000. s=ut?? e=mc(squared)

That looks like the thing. Thanks very much - I'm off to find a calculator and brush up on my maths...

That is true, but we could all say how big a house would usually be I wasnt trying to be difficult - it just seemed to me that you were trying to estimate size prematurely but, as usual, rdouglas gave you a good lead ( he usually does). good luck
