Working with graphics - 9/3/2001 17:45:00
Hi,
I'm in the process of designing a web site and on my index I placed a background picture and enabled the watermark feature
(by the way I'm using Front Page 2002) but on top of the background I inserted another picture that I'd like to merge with the background but I'm not be able to figure out
how to merge them. I tried using Image composer to merge them, but when the background image is inserted it is tiled and so is the picture that I'm trying to place on the background. Anyone know what to do here?
Thanks in advance
abbeyvet

Merging a picture in the foreground with one in the background is going to be tricky.

Background images tile, it is just what they do. The only way to prevent it is to leave sufficient white space around the image so that the tiling is not apparant. This to can be tricky as you have to account for various resolutions, screen sizes etc.

A water mark goes not move when you scroll down the page - it does tile though.

If you are going to try to merge froeground and background image you will need to measure up your images very cautiously. If you make the bg image a fixed known width from the left and top you may for example be able to add the foreground image in the space thus created. Or you could try using your BG image as the BG to a table positioned so that it will align as you want it to with the foreground. You have to be careful here too though as NN and IE deal differently with table bg's.

All in all a tricky one. If you could give an example of what you are trying to acheive it might be easier to give more specific instructions.

The image editor you are using is irrelevant here.

Thank you Katherine,
Yes the bg picture does tile and since it does I wanted to insert another picture of a different scene right in the center of four tiled pictures. But I would need to merge or group them In order for the scrolling not to affect the inserted picture.
