Microsoft Word - 12/1/2004 8:08:40
I've created a page where I list several Microsoft Word documents. The user can open these documents by clicking on them (of course).

This works fine, except that the user has to enter a login and password ? When he leaves it blank or push 'cancel' the document opens anyway.

The security on this folder seems to be fine, so... Any idea ???

PS : Microsoft Word is installed on the iis !

Thx !

Script source access is enabled and both authentication (basic & integrated windows) are unchecked, anonymous access is checked.

Next ?

Is this on an Intranet or full blown web server?

Does IIS Control the Password?

IIS Snap in via MMC, Expand trees till you get to the web folder, right click on Default Web, Go to properties, select the Directory Security Tab, and then permissions...me thinks...haven't got IIS to hand...

I created a separate entry for this site (so no default website), but both have anonymous access and integrated windows authentication checked (basic authentication unchecked).

The folder which containts the documents has only anonymous access checked.

Do you mean on level of the site or just the folder ? Do I have to restart ISS for this ?

All of the web, set it to basic, and no you don't have to restart IIS, only restart IIS if it doesn't work...

Sorry, but this seems not to work :-(

Another idea ?

PS :
Could this problem be related on the fact that Microsoft Word is installed on this server ?

I'll post a screenshot later of what you need to do.

I very much doubt it's MS word being installed on the server, it would be a problem if you tried opening the files on the server without word installed =P

It's an authenticitation(sp?) problem...not software...
