trying to create a simple logo on photoshop 6 - 9/12/2001 19:57:00
Hi,

I typed in my text and used Stroke to make it outline the text all the way around. its a black font with red stroke on it. Now can you let me know why its showing up jagged with white areas on the border?

the logo is here www.importtrends.com/index2.htm

thanks!

Have you tried doing your graphic with a black background? I think that might work better, and eliminate the white pixels you are seeing.

Did you add any other effects except the red stroke?

Hi, I basically opened up photoshop and created a text "IMPORTTRENDS" and basically did the stroke effect. I wanted to keep it a simple .gif format so i can put it on any background but generally when its a light background it comes out like that.

is there a way to fill it in or do I have to enlarge it and fill in one pixel at a time?

You could try the following:

Open the current image in Photoshop. Add a new layer, be sure to drag that layer to the bottom of the stack, then do a flood fill on that layer in black, and then save for web..

If you will also save this image in psd format, you can easily open it up and flood fill the background color layer to match any page you put it on.

Hope this helps.

Hi VT,

Did you rasterize your text before you applied the stroke? If you go back and do that, that will give you a vector image instead of text and I believe that you will get better results. You could rasterize after as well, but do that and I think that you will be pleased with outcome.

I opened your image and Photoshop and the reason why it looks jagged is because it was saved without a black background. There are two ways around this...If you still have the original psd file just create a new layer below the text layer and fill it with black. Or when saving for web just simply choose a black Matte color (its just below the Dither option) this will fill the area between the background and the stroke area with black effectively removing the "jaggies". Your image should look just fine. I use this technique often when i want my page background image to bee seen behind my forefront image.

Okay wow, i'm overwelmed with responses! that is great!

I will try these techniques and hopefully get them to work. I was just trying to create a .gif image of the outline of text to allow it to be put on any background color. but i believe the general consensus is to put a background color.

thanks
Scott

I personally like the second one down. However, I am not a fan of all capital letters.

Hi,

unfortunately that font seems to only come in all caps! argh! das why I tried creating the other logos, becuase i saw most sites it seems to have lowercase fonts or upper than lower.

thanks Nancy!

I too like the 2nd one down. I like the Capital letters on that type of logo. I think you'd find if you took them away it would look unbalanced and for lack of a better word, GOOFY!
