Navigation bar ? - 10/5/2001 20:51:00
If anyone has the time could you please peek at this site and tell me how this navigation is done. www.bvha.org I am thinking that it is series of pre made buttons set into several cells with some type of hoover effect. I have spent days looking at Java, web graphics, template pages and I can't find anything like this. So I am now turning to the experts. I would also assume (danger) that the horizontal bar is made the same way? Thanks for all you do for us "newbies" on here.

It appears to be some sort of javascript.

Personally I found it to be extremely slow to load. I also saw a message for a quite a while on my screen before it loaded saying that if it didn't load, to refresh my browser.

To be honest with you, if I have to be told to refresh my browser to see the navigation, then I most likely will leave that site.

In addition, my browser crashed the first time I tried to look at it.

The idea is fine, if it works. But you don't want this particular script. Seems very unreliable.

I agree. A very long load time while this was shown:
Loading menu...

If it doesn't load, click Refresh in your browser to view the menu.

If that doesn't work, try clearing your cache.

Not professional at all... the menu should have already been there and you shouldn't have to tell the viewer "this might not be working.... refresh and/or clear your cache".

Check http://javascript.internet.com . I'd suggest staying away from Java applets, they often are slower, don't work as well, and don't have the browser support that javascripts do.
