really stupid... but... - 10/10/2001 20:03:00 it has been recommended to me (ie i HAVE to use it ) to use illustrator and am finding it a bit difficult to get going (the help provided isn't of much help either !! )
what i have to do is pretty simple - cut a strange shape out of an existing image and brighten it up a bit... surely not a complex task but the 'knife' and 'slice' commands don't seem to work (for me that is !)... and as for a simple 'brightness' and 'contrast' toolbar... ??
i would greatly appreciate any help or advice and please excuse my ignorance... i'm sure illustrator is a good package but for the moment i want to dump it !!

I've opened Illustrator about twice, and closed it just as fast. *sigh* so I am not much help. I did buy a simple Illustrator for Dummies book, but I didn't find your topics listed in the index.
I did a search on Google and the following site looks like it might have some good information. I see a forum listed also for Illustrator in the left column - maybe they can help out.

RE: really stupid... but... - 10/10/2001 18:12:00 thanks nancy for taking the time to help... i had a look through that link but looks like it'll take some time to sort this out... think i'll just revert back to the more 'simple' packages and leave this one to those who know what they're about...
