This is making me insane. - 10/25/2001 20:54:00
Let's say a person has 5 pictures of 5 boxes. The boxes, when photographed, where all the same color. But due to lighting, etc. When they are view on screen they appear to be different shades/colors. My question is this:What program can I select all five pics and make them all match or tint from a selected drop down swatch or something? I've been doing it one at a time and it's a nightmare! Thanks, Pete

You should be able to change the hue and saturation of these photos. In Paint Shop Pro it's under Colors > colorize. If you can't find how to do this in your image program, let us know and we'll try to help further. When you get this worked out, would you show us the results if you have it online? Wait! You mean to tell me I could make all five pics the same "tint" or "color" at one time with this program??? -- I just want to make sure of what you're saying before I go out back and shoot myself.Pete

lol. well... you may have to do one at a time (I don't batch process images much, I prefer to tweak them individually), but it should only take seconds to do each once you decide on the properties. The limitations of colorizing, is that there can be only one hue for the whole picture. It often can look very good, especially for a series of photos like what you are working on. What image program are you using? A trial copy of Paint Shop Pro can be downloaded from www.jasc.com . Photoshop and many other image programs do this also. You can do this in Image Composer too.First set your colour swatch to the colour you want. Then select the image. Go to Effects>Color Enhancement and select Dye. Play with the settings under the deatilas tab till you get what you want - I find setting it to 50% is a good place to start. You get a different effect using the Tint effect rather than Dye - play with that too, sometimes one is what you need, sometimes the other. Like Linda i would usually work on one image at a time but if you want to try working on them all at once like this: - First make copies of the individual images for when things go wrong then arrange them as you want - Now select each image in your arrangment while holding down the shift key, then choose Arrange>Group to group them. - Make a copy of the group - just in case! The right click the group and choose 'Flatten Selection' You can now apply the Dye and Tint effect to your full composition. ------------------ Katherine InKK Design LinKKs - Kilkenny's Online Magazine -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* "Dogs have owners, cats have staff!"

Thanks for all the great info. At least I know the way I'm doing it is the best (one at a time) - but with 1500 to do, it never ends. Anyhow, I'm using PhotoDeluxe Business Edition, although I've done the same with many other prg. Even freebies from nonags, etc..The way I figure it, there has to be a prg. to do this, but I think I'll tweak each one like you said. Hey, it took me a while to find a simple thumbnailer, and stuff... so, I went from a newbie question like that to this. Thanks again, Pete

Hi, Pete -1500? I thought we were talking about 5 images here. I just checked and you can't colorize a whole batch at the same time in PSP 6.0. I don't know if that's an option in version 7, but it's a good question... I emailed them to find out. Out of curiousity, can Photoshop or another program do this? Bingo! quote: from Jasc Support Thank you for contacting Jasc Technical Support. Unfortunately, Paint Shop Pro is not able to colorize multiple images. However, Jasc does offer a product called Image Robot that can colorize a batch of files, as well as do other types of batch conversions. You can download an evaluation version of Image Robot from our website at www.jasc.com. If you have further questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us.
Free demo. Even if you don't want to buy it, at least you can use it on these photos. uh, that is... if you didn't just finish changing the last of them. Linda ------------------ Frontpage Web Templates [This message has been edited by LB (edited 10-25-2001).]

Hahahah, I sent them the same mail and didn't get a reply. Buy you did! Bummer!Anyhow, I've got about 1300 out of the 1600(now) done, but I think I may fiddle with that prg. anyhow. Awesome and fast help!!! You guys are the best. You know, as an aside. I've used the site for about 2 years (I think?) And either for FP, or this type of thing you guys have *always* helped. I don't think I've ever felt more comfortable anyplace else, and I'm on A LOT of different boards. Just wanted to say a sincere "thanks" for all the help! Pete
