Discussion web issue - 2/22/2001 15:17:00
I am having a wierd problem with a diuscussion web I just put up on my ISP's server (it has Front Page 2000 extensions). If you make a post and click Submit, the message vanishes and you go back to the post form. If, however, you click Submit before posting, then the messages post normally. In fact, you can keep on posting normally so long as you hit submit before you start your first post for that session.

What's Up??? How can I fix it???

Very strange. I would open the live site and do tools > recalculate hyperlinks.

If that doesn't work, I would make a new dics web. Make sure you keep your disc groups in separate subwebs. They tend to go buggy when part of the root.

I did both, and it is still acting up. Is there some sort of code I can add to the forms in question to in effect make it ckick the submit button when it is opened? That would address the issue as well.

You click the submit button once and nothing happens?

Then you click a second time and the form submits?

I've never heard of that. Do you have a url so we can see?

Actually, what happens is wierder.

Fill in the fields and click the Submit button. The fields are blanked out, you are still at the post form, and your message is nowhere. Fill them in again, hit the Submit button again, everything works properly.

Not a direct answer, but, if you consider going to a new bulletin board, I just did a bit of research. The BB this site uses is Ultimate Bulletin Board. Their price just went from $199 to $500. I found a very similar board called Ultraboard2000 which costs a very fair $39.00 INSTALLED. I just ordered mine yesterday. www.ub2k.com

As I said, it doesn't reaaly answer answer your question, but I think it would be worth you white to check out their site. And no, I am not associated with them

My guess is that it has something to do with your choice of jumping in and out of a frameset. Try it all outside the frameset. Users prefer that to all the other configurations available.

I believe that I've tried them all.

OK, I'll try it.

If it does not work, is there some way I can put code on the form to, in effect, cause the submit button to click when the form opens? I have to admit that I am far more comfortable in VB than FP, in VB I would just invoke form.requery in the load event.

Does anyone know of a way using HTML or other to order a button to click itself once when a page opens?

I use FrontPage to post discussion boards to my web sites on my @Home service.

All worked well when I used the unchanged files from FP. When I changed some of the fonts and background colors I got the exact same problem you have described.

That's all I have so far. I'm going to try again and keep changing it until I see what exactly is causing the problem.
