Staying organized - 12/11/2004 12:29:45
Does anyone use a "project specs sheet" to stay organized on a project? It would be used to organize color schemes, frame or cell sizes, button styles, etc. If so, where can I get one or what should it include?

i make a note of stuff - ftp details, standard picture sizes, logo colours etc but not much otherwise. you could make your own, print it out and fill it in.

I made one to stay organized and for consistency when using similar colors. It seems that most people do not use one or do like you and just write notes on the side. I was doing that but thought there got to be a better way.

Hi Jordan, I keep a client database with most of their details on it. Things like contact name, address, web host, passwords etc. I only keep these in Excel, and on the second page i keep invoice details like when i invoiced them, how much, when they paid, and on the next page i keep contact details like emails, meetings, phone calls etc. This may seem like overkill, but my fiance keeps telling me it's good business practice, you never know when you'll need all this info, you never know which clients will turn on you, and you can also use this info to cut some clients some slack if they've been good clients in the past. I am a bit of an organisation queen, but the one thing i really should have in this client database is a spec sheet. I've just come to having to alter a banner slightly and didn't have it saved. I could select the existing colours from the online website, but what if it'd been taken down? I have it on disc but what a hassle to load it up and find what i'm after. If i had fonts, colours etc all in this spec sheet i think it'd save a lot of time, at a time when you're usually in a fluster about having to make such minor changes. Good idea Nicole
