checking web in different browsers - 12/11/2004 22:20:41
I use Internet Explorer as my browser (mainly because it was on the computer) but how do I check that my website works correctly in other browsers. ie Netscape etc. Can I download them and switch from one to another without messing up my brain. Thanks. John

John, Sometimes it pays to download Netscape, Opera and especiall Firefox. Dan's suggestion to use Firefox is right on. Set Firefox as your default browser. During installation, tell is to import your IE favories, etc. Take a look at this page. http://www.myscacc.org/browser_vulnerabilities.htm

To check our website I downloaded Netscape - and found the site is ok. Opera - found the site was ok. Firefox - site was ok except for some bigs pics I had sliced up so as to download quicker. They have escaped from their tables but not enough to really worry about. Also some tables have expanded a bit - from top to bottom but again not a big problem. SO ALL IN all I am happy. I also ran Spybot and Adaware after I had finished the downloads and there were a few little tracking cookies but I wiped them out and now everything is fine. I will have a look at the 'security' problems and just might keep all my new browsers. Thanks for the information and have a Merry Christmas. John http://www.dingbobtrikes.com

PS. The big pic here http://www.dingbobtrikes.com/thumbnails_motorcycletrikes.htm is the one that appears to be playing up in Firefox. It is in four parts. Is there a reason (and therefore a solution) why it looks a bit off in Firefox and not the others. John http://www.dingbobtrikes.com

Continuing saga. I adjusted the cell properties and it has made a small difference so I shall keep on fine tuning. John http://www.dingbobtrikes.com
