form - e-mail - 3/14/2001 23:24:00
I am working on my first form in frontpage and I want to try to set the form so that when it is filled out it is e-mailed to me.

PROBLEM: I get an alert message that says "This form is being created on a disk-based web or the FrontPage Server Extensions have not been configured to send e-mail"...goes on to ask "Would you like to remonve the e-mail recipient?"

I know the form won't work until I get it on the server - but what is the deal with this message?? -T

Just click to keep the address. I believe it is because you don't have the site opened up live on the server. I've always just ignored the message, and my forms have always worked! Just make sure you test your form after.

I struggled with this at first too. But the fact of the matter is, if you are working on a development machine, most likely a standalone or networked PC as opposed to a live server, you most likely do NOT have FP extensions enabled and you ARE working on a disk based web. You'll even see the [FrontPage Save Results Component] message on the page when you preview in your browser BEFORE publishing to the web server. Not to worry, unless you see that message AFTER publishing, in which case FP extensions are not properly set up on the server. Bad.

Follow Rob's advice and you'll be fine.
