Could it be the video card going? - 12/29/2004 17:50:30
Twice in the last 3 or 4 days my screen has just gone black while I've been on the computer. I have to hard boot and when the machine comes back up everything works fine. Can't think of what else it may be, any ideas?

All connections are still tight? Does the monitor light go out?

Haven't moved a thing and the monitor light stays on. Just the screen goes dead black.

My computer screen looks like it expands and then contracts. After this, it will suddenly shut off. The green power light on the monitor will turn to the blinking yellow light. After I turn the screen off and then back on, the screen will repeat this same thing after I go to a different program or switch websites. Can someone PLEASE tell me what is up with this problem.

What internal tempature is your PC running at upon reboot? I've seen overheating issues with these type of symptoms.

Gee I don't know Brian, haven't had one of those thermometers around since the kids were little.:):)
Oddly the problem hasn't reared its head again since I first posted, go figure.

just to rule out something stupid you haven't changed your screen saver to the one that just shows a blank screen??

Screen saver??? Haven't used one of those in years.:):) If I'm on the machine it wouldn't get a chance to come on and if I'm not... well, I'm asleep.:)

What mobo do you have and I will drop a link to a heat monitoring program. They really help for those who over clock also. Coming from a guy who burnt out several parts on a bad overclocking see how far I can push it for how long push. Guess I live and learn :).

Take care,

Brian
