Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions on this page - 12/30/2004 5:25:29
Hi all, My girlfriends fathers website has recently been getting this message on the following page: http://fp.suffolksurnames.plus.com/suff_subm_form4.html Now I've been poking around for an hour trying to find out why, but to be honest I have very little (or none) knowledge of fp extensions. This site has been working for a long time, but recently has just given up for some reason, From my understanding this form sends an email and writes the form contents to another page where they can be retrieved later, interestingly some people are not receiving this error as new data is being added every now and then. So, over you you people, can you see anything glaringly obvious or could perhaps point us in the right direction? Cheers!

The problem was reported to the ISP who tested it themselves and they found no problems, and the data they were testing with all came through onto the page which stores the results. It seems likely to me that it's a problem server side, but getting them to investigate when it works fine for them is going to be tricky! Cheers!

Joe No offence, but I have come across hosts who can do it from their end, but are only realy faking the results just search through the server forums, you will see what I mean. Next Step: Republish the same page, to a different location, and see if it works there, without faults.

Received this email today "Dear Mrs Bridges, I am still unable to replicate the problem, both from our internal connection and by dialling up as an external user. I have reinstalled your FP extensions, please test the site to see if it is now fixed. I think you were replacing the site when I was reinstalling the extensions, as the tar file I left has been removed. If you need any of the _vti files we have a tar of your whole site. Regards, Sarah Routledge"

It's very possible that she could have been reinstalling the FPSE whilst you were trying to publish. Saying that, installing the FPSE at the same tim as publishing has been known to cause no end of problems. In about 30 mins, try again, if the page in question still doesn't work, you willhve to re-create it and then publish the new file
