--WEBBOT-SELF-- - 12/30/2004 18:48:46
I have created a form with the Form Page wizard in Front Page 2003. I have selected the form properties and inserted the email address I wanted the information to be sent to. When save and open the page, enter the information and press send in internet explorer 6 it comes up with an errorr "This Page cannot be displayed". In the URL it inserts the messages --WEBBOT-SELF-- after the name of the file I have saved the webpage as. I have searched other forms and have not had any luck solving this problem. Can anyone help???

Paul You will need to publish the page to an FPSE enabled server for that to work It needs publishing via the FP Publish feature as normal FTP will not work D

SBO, The FrontPage Server Extensions are just that. They run on the host's server and provide the additional code that enables the forms to work. If your host provides a Control Panel, you may be able to log in to the Control Panel and install the extensions. If not, ask your host to install them for you. For the Form to work you will have to Publish your web site to the server. Open your site in FrontPage, and choose Publish from the File drop down menu. Choose Publish all pages this first time. Thereafter only publish changed pages. You will be asked for the username (Host assigned) and password (initially assigned by the Host).

I'm running XP PRO. I was able to enable ASP.NET to run on my machine by downloading the .net framework. I then executed an .exe file with the command prompt. This enable asp.net extension files (.aspx) on my iis. What are the steps I need to take to enable FPSE on my iis??

I have Opened the FrontPage Server Extensions console. I have also Inserted a folder called TestPage into C:/Inetpub/wwwroot. So I am able to see the folder. Inside the folder I have a testpage.htm the has a form with the submit option, that send the information to an e-mail address. However when I right click the folder and select all tasks - check server extesions it tells me the server extensions on the web server are not compatible and the administration program is to old to use with the server. Also I have set up a remote web site with FrontPage so I can publish my site to my host, rather than FTPing it. However the folder Web that has all my html files in it I can no longer open it and see the files?? I can still FTP my host and open the web folder. Why can't I do this when I publish the site with FrontPage??

SBO, Each time you use FTP without absolutely understanding what is happening, you can screw up the FP Server Extensions.

How important are the FrontPage server Extensions. Until now I have not needed them.
