CSS and FrontPage issues - 12/30/2004 19:27:35
Hello everyone,
I am young web developer, and recently (thought) I had completed a job for a company named Rotochopper. I developed the page, so that it nearly validated in XHTML, and used CSS to the maximum extent. It looks almost identical in all browsers, thanks to one or two hacks.

But, when the web master of the page, who knows very little HTML tries edit it in FrontPage, he gets several very annoying differences from what displays on in a browser.

Above all, I have a <div> named "content" that contains all the content, and has a backround-color of white to set apart from the red background of the body. All cool in all browsers, but when you open it up in FrontPage, most everything has a background of red.

If any kind soul could give me even a hint, I would be very thankful, and even offer to do some very long find and replace project for him or her.

Thanks much,
silas

Hi silashundt
Welcome to out front.

Now, you say that this page "almost validates". Without it totally validating there could be some issues that aren't being taken care of.

What you need to do for us, is post a link to the site in question. This way, we can see what is going on.

Also, I"m not familar with doing css with frontpage, so someone that knows about this area will be along to help you out with this. It could be a matter of front page adding code to your page. There is a way to keep it from doing this, I just don't remember what it is that you have to do. I believe that its in your preferences somewhere.

So two things you need to do, total complete working validation. Very important. And post the link to the site so that we can see what is going on with the code and the css.

I seem to have solved the problem by dumbing down my CSS a bit, especially the aesthetic techniques we used for the <div>'s in question.

Thanks for the advice anyways.
