I've used a few video editors. My favorite is Adobe Premiere. A bit costly though if you don't need all the goodies. Otherwise, I've tried MGI VideoWave and Ulead Visual Studio. They are much easier to use, and cheaper. The don't do nearly as much as Adobe but certainly do the basics. I don't really do any audio editing, although Adobe will let you splice etc. It may do more but I've never looked into it. I just use the audio tracks along with the video. I don't recall how MGI and Ulead handle audio. You said burn to a CDs and not DVDs, meaning creating VCDs I take it. I always seem to have to goof around to get a good enough quality for VCD viewing (codecs, compression etc.) . I used to create AVI's from Adobe and then use TPMGE to convert to MPG, and then use Roxio to burn a VCD. Now though, it is a bit easier because I create DVDs. I use Adobe to edit and export as AVI then let Nero convert and create the DVD. Pictures are MUCH clearer now too.
