Looking for an easy to use software to edit video and audio and burn to a cd. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I've used a few video editors. My favorite is Adobe Premiere. A bit costly though if you don't need all the goodies. Otherwise, I've tried MGI VideoWave and Ulead Visual Studio. They are much easier to use, and cheaper. The don't do nearly as much as Adobe but certainly do the basics.

I don't really do any audio editing, although Adobe will let you splice etc. It may do more but I've never looked into it. I just use the audio tracks along with the video. I don't recall how MGI and Ulead handle audio.

You said burn to a CDs and not DVDs, meaning creating VCDs I take it. I always seem to have to goof around to get a good enough quality for VCD viewing (codecs, compression etc.) . I used to create AVI's from Adobe and then use TPMGE to convert to MPG, and then use Roxio to burn a VCD.

Now though, it is a bit easier because I create DVDs. I use Adobe to edit and export as AVI then let Nero convert and create the DVD. Pictures are MUCH clearer now too.

My preference so far is MGI - tried Ulead and a few others like Microsofts movie maker, but keep going back to MGI

Id just go with what ever you have bundled and use it :)
If burning to cd, be aware it will chew through the megs pretty quickly

Have any specifics about what exactly you need? Professional editor? Personal? Mac? PC?

Thanks for all the replys. A very neat project. My dad passed back in 1992. He left allot of video tape of him and my grandmother going through family photo albums and explaining each picture as best they could. I'm talking a 20 VHS tapes here. I've made it through the first one my grandmother talks about getting on a cattle ship and leaving Italy in 1912. My dad talks about being in the 2nd Armored Div in WWII.

I'm trying a few different editors/burners mentioned by all of you.

Thanks!
Rich

Rich, that is great stuff to have.

For what you are wanting to do, most personal video editors will work fine. If you still have not found an editor, let me know if you are on a mac or pc, and if you are looking for a free one, or if you have a budget.

1. Thank you for offering the help.

I decided to just copy them as they are. Some of the things I was going to edit out gave it character. A cough or back ground noise. I did use this http://www.dvdtox.com/index.htm to copy the DVD.

I'd love to share some of this with you guys but the files are really big. They are in a "ts" format. That seems to be the standard format for DVD.

My dad shows a picture of my brother at 13 and says " Italian boys love their mothers so much they grow mustaches to look like them" LOL. He was a funny.
