Photoshop Basics - 1/3/2005 10:07:01
Can someone provide me a quick tutorial on how to create the following graphic in Photoshop? I was given a copy at work and to be honest have had a hard time making heads or tails of it. The graphic is simply a text that appears to be outlined and have a dropshadow and a transparent background. I can't seem to even get started.

It's not a very good drop shadow...but still:

Create the text using the text tool (The T tool in the toolbox to your left), it's Arial me thinks...

When done, on your right, at the bottom, you will have the layers box, right click on the one that says Understanding... and then select Blending Options

Here you can add the Drop shadow by clickin on the bit that says Drop Shadow, and you can alter the settings as you see fit.

To add the outline, use the stroke function in the blending options, and then apply a color overlay to get the orange.

That's based on PSCS, but should be the same for the other versions.

Yep, you should be able to get pretty close to that by playing with the size and distance settings in the drop shadow.

Then change the angle of the light, and the shape...

A little T&E will get you there, once you get the basic font and text on a layer

<edit>
If that doesn't do it... copy the layer, then change the text color to black... move it behind the first layer and move it around until you get it close.
