1st Timer -> Keywords (1/5/2005 15:48:50)

Hi, I want to thank you for the help you have provided me with so far. This is a great site.

Today's question is about setting keywords. I'm not sure that I did it right, because when I search Yahoo or Google (I submitted to both several weeks ago) not many of my keywords will bring up my site. Here is part of the instruction I followed in Frontpage -
"In the Value box, type the index keywords for your site, using commas to separate words."

How I interpreted this was to enter the words like this -
Document control, document control software, document administration, etc, etc,...

Did I do it right?

you did fine..however, keywords are of negligable value these days.

OK...so how do I get my site to come up in the search results?

dpf -> RE: Keywords (1/5/2005 16:38:20)

validate it.....have lots of meaningful content... get relevant sites to link to you....... patience. think of it this way..there are billions of sites - why should yours suddenly rank high? give the SE's a reason to rank you high.

Thanks....any recommendations for validating it?

The Validator complains that I have no Doctype for my site. I've read the help provided here - http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/doctype.html
but am still not sure what I need to do.

Can you help (again)?

Thanks

I read the documentation but I am still a bit confused.

Is this what should be entered at BEFORE any other code, like at the very top:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
