I'm at my wits end. We're hosted on a Unix server. We've got a root directory and currently seven subwebs, each of which is password protected. We're increasingly running into difficulty when publishing a new subweb--the theme is removed and getting it reattached is unbelievably difficult, in the most recent case impossible.

I have a few questions. 1) If I've modified a theme on my desktop, when I publish the web is there a conflict with the theme on the server? 2) Is it possible to use different themes on different subwebs within the same root folder? 3) Would these problems disappear if we move to a NT server.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Laura

The "root" of all your problems is maintaining a web for a UNIX box in the FP root folders.
Move your webs to your desktop, open them in FP, and tell FP to make them into webs (it will ask, just say OK.)
You'll probably have to update your navigation view, theme, etc. but the problems you are experiencing now will be gone forever.
Upload each of your subweb individually (even if they are housed within one larger folder)until you get the hang of it.

FP become a bit confused on the UNIX platform, it is up to us to tell it how to behave. Darned computers, they can be just like little kids.

Thanks. It's been truly exasperating. Is moving to an NT server a cure for this problem?

Do you know if the host is running the current version 4.x server extensions for Frontpage and nor earlier 3.x ones?
