[FrontPage Save Results Component] appears on published... - 1/7/2005 9:28:18
The words... [FrontPage Save Results Component] keep appearing on a form that I created and published. It doesn't appear in design veiw, only after it's been published and accessed on the web. How do I get rid of it. I don't see anything in the code that resembles it that I could delete. Thanks, Steve

Steve, This response is usually an indication that host FrontPage Extensions are not installed, corrputed and/or you used FTP vice FrontPage publish.

Well, I know that the FP extensions are installed for the rest of the site. This is a seperate page that is not included in the navigation of the rest of the site. Could that be it? Are the FP extensions "site inclusive"? Meaning, does this page have to be a navigable part of the rest of the site in order for the extensions to work properly? Thanks, Steve

Are the FP extensions "site inclusive"? evilevets, As far as I know, yes. quote:
I know that the FP extensions are installed for the rest of the site Yeah, right. This statement has been made time and time again on this forum. Usually, but not always, the opposite is true. Sometimes, as I mentioned, FPSE indicate they are installed but, in fact, are corrupted. Not installed/corrupted, Same O Same O - FrontPage Components (of which Forms is one) no-workee. quote:
does this page have to be a navigable part of the rest of the site in order for the extensions to work properly? Not getting this. Why would you design a reply form if you didn't want visitors to use it for replies? This means, of course, that it would have to be in navigation. Also, you didn't say how you are publishing files.

Becuase right now it is in "preview mode" for the person I am building the site for, just to see if they like it. I'll check again with my hosting service to see if the extensions are actually turned on. And I am Publishing through FP, not ftp'ing or anything. Thanks Larry! Steve

Hi Steve, As Larry pointed out, the [FrontPage Save Results Component] message is frequently a signal the extensions are either not present or have been corrupted. It can also appear as a result of syntax errors. The message should disappear when published to a server with the extensions enabled. The form won't work in preview mode or browser preview unless your PC is enabled as a server with the extensions. As to navigation, it would work when published whether in nav or not. Of course as Larry said. no one will be able to access it. There is another nasty message your form may generate e.g. the "FrontPage Run Time Component Page" message. On a published form, this would indicate missing extensions. When I submit in browser preview and receive the message however, I take this as a sign I have a working form.
