Jrun -> New homepage (3/23/2001 20:39:00)

Upto now I've used index.htm as my homepage. To make my homepage a bit more interactive, I have developed a new one. To avoid any possible conflict I have named it deftemp.asp, so far. The time has come to introduce my new homepage to the users. My first thought is to rename it default.asp. But, how do I actually replace that old index.htm?
How do I replace the homepage in the navigational structure?
Is there any server issues I have to be aware of?
My FP2K web is on my PC and I publish to a Win2K IIS5 onhouse server.

To maintain the navigation structure I would be inclined to just open both pages in html view and then copy and paste the content of the new page into your old index.htm. Save that page, then rename the page whatever it needs to be called on your server and FP should take care of updating all the links.

I renamed index.htm to default.asp as recommended, and ooops my default.asp was not my 'homepage' anymore (that little house icon in navigation view disappeared) and my navigation structure was automatically disconnected from the page. Lucky I had my backup. Any better suggestions out there?

the contents of an ASP will not function correctly in a file with a HTM extension. it needs to remain ASP

The problem is not to have an asp remain an asp. My FP-based web have today index.htm as homepage. It was automatically generated by FP when i first created the web one year ago. My first article in this discussion was how do I acutally replace the old index.htm with my new page default.asp?
To save the index.htm as default.asp is not an option, - index.htm will still be the homepage. FP will let me rename the homepage to default.htm, but that wouldn't be much help.
The problem is to keep my navigation structure generated by FrontPage.
An experienced reply would be very, very much appreciated.
