WindowsME and Frontpage(Including Office2000 Premium) - 3/24/2001 22:51:00
Hi Everyone, I'm having some wierd problems installing Office2000 after installing WindowsME on 2 of my systems. The problem is, after Office200's installation process is complete, any Office application closes after a few seconds. I tried openning Outlook, and after it imports data from Outlook express, it just closes without warning. Same thing happens with Excel, Word, where i open the application and it stays for a few seconds before closing automatically. This happened on both machines that had ME. I also tried Office2000 installation on an older Win98(SE) system and it completed and ran without any problems. This is really starting to bug me as I need to work with Frontpage as well on both system. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! -Yale

YaleSuggest you go back to 98SE. ME still has a lot of problems and the extra bells and whistles just aren't worth the hassle. This is especially true if you use the system for business. JoeV

I do agree with the situation concerning Windows ME, but have you checked for viruses lately? There is a trojan that affects win.exe preventing applications from running after they open, so they close back up.MOst llikely the problem is just a buggy ME, but if you don't scan regularly, check just to be sure.

Upgraded to ME on two machines that had Office 2000 Pro and never had a problem. In fact I'found ME to be far better than 98 or 98SE------------------ Gil Harvey The Host Factory Resellers are our speciality "Never miss a good chance to shut up"

Hi,I had exactly the same problem a couple of months back when I upgraded to Win 2000. For me I think it was a language conflict, I can't remember now what fixed it - installing or deinstalling a critical update. I don't think you have to worry about it being a virus or a version with bugs. Cheers Andy ------------------ Internet Business Solutions S.L. (Spain) Dreamweaver Users Forum
