Alex Ottway -> What do I need to upload? (3/25/2001 20:57:00)

Hi, all!
This may sound like a stupid question, but...

I have created a website, using FP2000, themes, navigation bars, shared borders etc, and all works fine.

As you are doubtless aware, FP2000 creates a multitude of subdirectories (e.g. _borders, _derived, _overlay etc.) when you do this.

Can anyone tell me, please, which of these folders and files do I _NEED_ to upload to the web server in order for the site to look and behave the same on the internet as it does on the PC where it is created...

...and secondly (though it may be the same as answer 1), what files/folders do I need to upload when I add new pages to my site at a later date?

The only reason I ask is that I currently upload everything in all the directories and folders (!) to the web, and this is very time-consuming, not to say expensive on telephone charges...

Info appreciated, please!
Many thanks,
Regards, Alex Ottway
Nottingham.

Basically anything with out the _vti prefix.

I assume its because you cant publish?

Thanks for the reply and info, Spooky! I assume the term "publish" applies to anyone with their terminal or system permanently hooked up to a server...(please excuse my ignorance on this point)

I am (for my sins) dependent on the good people at freenetname.co.uk to provide me with a few bytes of webspace and I transfer the contents of my c-drive web folder up to my domain space.

[It's amazing what some people will do for free webspace...! I'm afraid I can't justify any other way on a 56k modem at home, and no budget!... :-) ]

Alex.
