RE: PLEASE help w/ table in Netscape/Mac - 3/27/2001 20:44:00
The problem is the font size that is specified as the browser default. I looked at it in Netscape where I have my font size set at 12 (which is NN default)- it was all messed up as you describe. When I changed font size to 10 everything looked fine. IE apparantly counts spaces for size 10 fonts in a text box no matter what you specify in the browser cos when I made my default size huge there it all stayed put. So, a solution? Tricky. You could make the text box less wide, which would allow for those who never change their NN default size - probably the majority of users. It would however ruin the look of it as the box would be floating in the middle in IE. Macs I know nothing of. But another problem will always be those who for reasons of preference or need use a very large font - say 14 or 16. I don't think you can allow for this too easily. And the truth, however palatable, is that these people are probably accustomed to seeing messed up pages. ------------------ Katherine
