volunteer needed to help elementary school kids with fi... - 3/27/2001 20:43:00
Background info:

We have an online "literary book club" where students read a book, write a book review, and draw a picture to accompany it. They then email all of this as a MSWord attachment to a few tech. resource people who must copy/paste the text and picture from Word into FrontPage. We then have to create a link to the student's page on an author, title and school page so visitors to the bookclub site can read other students' reviews to select their own books to read.

We have tried to make this easy for teachers to participate in this without them knowing how to use FrontPage or anything else that is new to them. (Most are comfortable with Word and email.) The response from students seeing thier pictures and writing on the web has been tremendous.

What is needed:

The tech resource people are becoming overwhelmed with the increasing number of submissions. We need a simpler way for students to make submissions. We need a way for them to submit both the book review and the picture via their web browser and have a web page created with this info.

I do not have any experience with databases, cgi scripts, ASP, etc. to be able to figure this out. The entire district uses FrontPage for all web sites so we must also. Please let me know if you are able to help with this project. Here is the address of the site of the bookclub: http://www.fayette.k12.ky.us/literaryclub/

Thank you

I had a couple of ideas that I think would be fairly easy for the kids and for the staff to keep up with.
Since there are kids involved, there will be many instances of "boo-boos" no matter how it is done. )

It would get kind of lengthy here, why don't you send me an email. It will be a lot easier to communicate. dixiedi@fuse.net

You could have your students save the document in MSWord as HTML. This should save some time. You would only need to add the page and link it.
