Access violation problem No Page View ! - 3/30/2001 18:10:00
Hi,
I installed a formmail cgi script on a page, in a shared border across the site, uploaded it to the cgi bin and it worked fine, returning a test email quickly.

However, when I returned to frontpage and automatically opened the web, I received an “access violation” message. I see only the folder list, or in navigation view, the folders and the navigational structure. I’m unable to view the page in normal view though if I click on a file, it does appear to download it and lists the download time but only white space is viewed. In short, I can’t edit any of the pages !

I’ve tried the following : detect and repair, deleting *.web files and the Front page Temp files. I’ve also tried to open it in navigation view.

Incidentally, I don’t have the security option on my web, presumably because my server does not support frontpage extensions.

I may have made a mistake too, in downloading a preconfigured formmail.cgi script to my source web on frontpage. I’ve now deleted that as it exists on my server, CI Host.

I’ve read somewhere, that I could try exporting the web and that might locate any corrupt file. It’s a large site though and also, where should I export it too ?

Any help would really be appreciated !

David

What you are saying shouldn't have anything to do with pages opening up with only white space.
I have put perl scripts (for email subscription) into the shared borders before with out any problems at all.

Everything in the form for the script is contanied within the html. The script itself is called from the html, there is no script within the form.

Do you publish your pages with FTP or with the F{ publishing feature.

If you are not using the extensions, the publishing feature is very limiting and messes with your site.

How did you upload your perl script? Via FTP in ASCII mode?

Pst your URL so I can take a look at your code and also what perl script you used.

Many thanks for your help. I managed to resolve the problem by I think, deleting cmdui.prf in: C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State)
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Thanks again
